Gay Ally

I am an ally for sure. I am the Mom of a wonderful son, Eric, and his partner, my son-in-law, Doug (together 27 1/2 years).  On Mother's Day I always thank Eric for making me a mother.  Having a gay child has opened doors to a community I would have not known and introduced me to many who have become close friends. I am grateful for the years I have spent on educational projects, participating in PrideFest presentations, sharing aPFLAG/LGBT Community Center educational grant focused on GSAs, supporting Diverse and Resilient, serving on the LGBT Foster Care Alliance coalition, attending Rainbow Family Summer Camps.  All have enriched my life beyond my wildest dreams.  There are too many individuals in the community who have been there over the years to list by name, but they are in my memory bank of long-standing friends.  My wish is that the mainstream communities of the world would be welcoming and affirming of this wonderful community of beautiful people.
