What is LGBT?

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT).

All are related in the sense that there is a sense of "heterosexual" and "gender" privileges that create imbalances in access to civil, workplace and legal benefits and protections.

What is straight?

A person whose enduring physical, romantic, emotional and/or spiritual attraction is to people of the opposite sex.

Are there laws that specifically effect LGBT rights?

There are many laws that have unfair consequences for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. For example:

Do transgender people have different values than straight people?

No, gay people live ordinary lives. They are coworkers, neighbors, family members and friends. They work, pay taxes, do the laundry, celebrate birthdays, and take out the trash. Like straight people, gay people want to earn a living, be safe in their communities, serve their country, and take care of the ones they love.
