I grew up knowing that I was gay as a teenager, and I was so afraid to come out to anyone...  even myself.  It wasn't until I was 24 that I started to come out to people I trusted.  I am 31 now and I'm still not out to everyone, but I can have a much lower sense of self hate because I do know that there are loving and accepting people in our world.  We just have to be wise enough to see them...  and be them ourselves!
