I believe that everyone deserves a chance to be who they are without being judged by our society. I am an ally with several LGBT friends and I completely understand the challenges that they face since I endure those challenges as well when I stand up and say that I am an ally.

Great local resource for the continued journey towards equal rights. Building and maintaining fully inclusive communities and workplaces benefit all.

My two-year-old son, his moms and I were coming home from a 4th of July celebration in Cedarburg. Apparently, we weren't driving fast enough for the motorcycle behind us. At one point, he roared by screaming, "Faggots," prompted no doubt by the rainbow sticker on the moms' SUV rear bumper. It hit me as a country we may be free, but we are not free from ignorance and prejudice. A wonderful evening had been marred. I'm sorry my small son had to experience that ... but sadly, bigotry is part of our world. Our work is not done. Gay neighbor reminds everyone, LGBT people included, that love is what binds us.

We moved into a great neighborhood full of amazing people who support us and our life. Needless to say we feel right at home here and really cherish the companionship. People don't mind our displays of affection we share with each other. When had a house warming party our neighbors and friends made us feel for the first time that two men together has never been wrong!

When people ask me who I am, I tell them that I am an "old, white, straight, female". I do this purposefully because I feel that I acknowledge and give permission to be NOT old, NOT white, NOT straight, and NOT female. Because I know who I am, I HOPE that it allows others to honestly and confidently identify themselves. And, by the way, the older I get, I don't feel so OLD... I am going to be 54 shortly but will always be White, and always be Female, and probably always be straight. I think that giving others the forward permission to be themselves is the best gift we can give. Be honest onto thyself, accepting and loving of others: That's all I can hope for.

I have an Indian neighbor who is so kind and very cute. He is always willing to help me because I am blind. Whether he is gay or not I believe is irrelevant.

As a recently retired teacher, I have dealt with many families and family types. I can honestly state that the gay couples that I dealt with were caring involved parents raising children who were healthy, happy and thriving. I have gay friends who have had or adopted children and I know that these children are in better homes than many heterosexual relationships. ALL CHILDREN NEED LOVING PARENTS WHO ACCEPT THEM, SPEND TIME WITH THEM AND SUPPORT THEM FINANCIALLY AND EMOTIONALLY. In my experience, gay couples are committed to their children and I applaud their example.

Wish for a gay neighbor that I can chat and socialize with openly.

My wish was that hopefully some day people won't think of gays and lesbians as unusual or weird and that it won't be necessary to fill out silly forms saying that I accept them in my neighborbood.
