We live in a great neighborhood where everyone
accepts us. Our families are wonderful and nothing but loving
and supporting. Amber & I are trying to have a baby and all
of our friends/families have been nothing but supportive and encouraging
threw this long ... stressful process. We are truly blessed to
have great families and friends.
However we have had our share of mistreatment
and discrimination. One particular episode happened at a fast
food restaurant. We were talking, my partner and I, and the owner/manager
came around the counter and proceeded to scream and swear at us.
She didn't want us "touching" because there were children
present. She even added "if you were straight I would say
the same thing!" She literally kicked us out of her restaurant!
She said, and I quote "This is my restaurant and I can do
what I want." After that particular incident I felt like
she kicked me back in the closet. I had my tail between my legs
for a long time because I just felt like at any moment someone
was just going to start screaming at us for being gay. I was letting
her win because thats what she wanted. We deserve to be happy
and treated like everyone else. Needless to say I am happy being
open again with my partner and we are anxiously waiting to conceive!
I try tro focus on the positive and not let the negativity affect
us.
